Our Story

Hi! I’m Charity Godwin, owner of Amarillo Eats Organic. I grew up mostly in Pampa, TX. Go Harvesters! :) In HS I worked for KGRO/KOMX in Pampa and I was in the Miss Teen Texas Pageant. In college I worked for 93.1 The Beat, Hot 99.7, and NewsChannel 10 while studying mass communications at Amarillo College, and then I went to Clarendon, TX for nursing school. I am still in college currently pursuing my BSN in nursing. This past Summer, I helped model clothes at a local online boutique for a couple weeks (so fun!) The past 10 years I have helped produce a Christian radio show in FL. I met/married my husband, Josh, (he’s from OH) on Eharmony.com in 2007. Josh has his masters degree in Physical Therapy, and he works for Kindred at Home in Amarillo. We are blessed with 4 wonderful children (ages: 19 yo to 3 months!). We were able to adopt our middle son when he was born in FL. It’s an AMAZING story if you want to hear it sometime. Our daughter was a miracle baby too after 9 years of infertility, a healthier lifestyle change and a lot of prayer, we were able to have our “1 in a billion” chance baby. Our oldest son is a huge help with his siblings, and he is one of our delivery drivers for Amarillo Eats Organic.
I am happy to offer organic produce and groceries for pick up or $7 delivery to Amarillo, Bushland, & Canyon (and sometimes surrounding areas with enough interest). When we started eating organic food, I had 2 babies in diapers, a foreign exchange student daughter from Germany in HS, and our oldest son was in grade school. It was so hard for me to get to the store and to fit both babies with car seats in my grocery basket with food was always a huge chore. Also, I was tired. Those were the years I never slept lol A quick note for moms with babies- it’s all worth it and 1 day you will sleep again promise! Years ago, I joined in a similar group in Fort Worth to have organic groceries delivered to my door and it literally saved my life during that time. Fresh, healthy, organic fruits and veggies delivered to my door?! As long as I had some key pantry items and meats stocked, I could always put a healthy meal together for my family on a whim.
When we moved to Amarillo from Fort Worth in 2018, I was surprised by the lack of options and the high cost for organic groceries. I knew Amarillo needed something better. I wanted to expand to offer more than just organic produce for our customers. Pantry, frozen, and refrigerated items can also be ordered with your produce. If you need to order entire cases of an item, we can work with you to do that too. (maybe you juice a lot or if you own a restaurant that wants to offer more organic offerings). We offer options for clean meat with Holy Cow Beef (chicken, pork, & shrimp) once a month on our bulk Facebook page as well. We also started shipping items anywhere in the U.S. in Summer 2021 (YAY) !
We have several people in my family allergic to tree nuts and peanuts and almost everything is made on the same equipment as tree nuts. I have a child allergic to milk too. Sometimes finding allergy friendly options is difficult in Amarillo, and I hope to be able to make these products available with enough interest as well.
Working as a home health nurse in Amarillo, I also saw a need to help the elderly with groceries as well. I had a patient once in a retirement home who lost her phone charge cord and asked if she could borrow my phone to call her daughter because she was out of groceries and had nothing to eat when I came for her nursing visit. Not everyone can go out to the store, and I feel that it’s a huge blessing to be able to help meet some of the needs of immunocompromised individuals, persons with disabilities, persons with allergies, large families, persons who are pressed for time, persons quarantining with covid (we offer to deliver your groceries in a disposable box for covid), or trying to stay away from public places due to the pandemic, & also people who are trying to be more conscious about eating healthier.
This year (2020) was tough for many families and individuals, and our awesome customers at Amarillo Eats Organic donated produce to many people who knew of families that needed to be blessed by our service. Some individuals who needed donations, also reached out to us and we were able to find them a food donation sponsor within our group. I made sure to include an E-giftcard for a donation box on the website permanently so that no family has to go hungry in our community. We can help those in need together.️

Amarillo Eats Organic has been able to deliver produce to nursing homes, hair salons, apartments, places of work, gyms, and family homes all over the TX Panhandle. It’s our priority to do good in the Amarillo community by donating our leftover foods to help the homeless with Yellow City Missions, Patsy’s Place, & other local missions. We are also a business partner with Radio By Grace in Amarillo. We order American Grassfed Certified beef and other healthy meats (chicken, pork, shrimp) from Holy Cow Beef in Lubbock. You can find some of our healthful tips articles in the Amarillo magazine this next year. We love to partner with businesses in the community when possible to create lifelong friendships because we are all here doing life together and it’s important to support & encourage each other as much as possible. Shop local right from our website!
I’m excited to be on this journey of health with you all! Thanks so much for your loyalty.
